FAQ

Q: How much does it cost?

We offer several purchase options to fit your needs:

  • A full turn-key system including consultation, design, installation, programming, calibration and training starts at $1,750* plus the cost of the equipment.

  • If you have your own installers we can provide consultation, design, programming, calibration and training starting at $1,450* plus the cost of the equipment.

  • The equipment can be purchased alone for self-installation by your in-house experts.  We are available for consultation for a fee.

* depends on the complexity of the design, installation and programming.

Q: Are there any ongoing fees?

Unlike other solutions there are no monthly fees.

Q: How long does it take to install the system?

We are technology systems experts and have been installing systems for decades.  A typical installation can be done in less than one day.

Q: What is the warranty on the system?

The system has a 3-year warranty on installation & equipment, and can be extended to a fourth and fifth year for an additional cost.

Q: What types of elevated body temperature notifications are available?

Notifications can include immediate push messages, emails, text messages and on-board alarms and warning lights.  The system can also be connected to alarm systems, automation systems, external speakers, door locks and external warning lights.  Other custom solutions are available upon request depending upon your needs.

Q: Can the camera detect human bodies for temperature measurement?

The camera detects human bodies when screening. It detects up to 30 people at a time.

Q: Will other heat sources, such as a coffee cup, cause false alarms?

The cameras are able to use artificial intelligence technology to avoid detecting the temperature of other heat sources which reduces false alarms.

Q: How accurate are the temperatures detected by the camera?

The cameras are highly accurate can be calibrated to be within 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: Can the units be installed outdoors?

To ensure accuracy, we strongly recommend installing the solution indoors.  Hot or cold air and direct sunlight can affect an individual’s skin-surface temperature as well as the working status of the camera, resulting in a deviation in the measured temperature.

Q: What does a typical setup look like?

Depending upon your unique situation there are several possibilities:

  • A screening area can be set up including either a laptop, display or monitoring tablet with the system software where a member of your staff can monitor incoming traffic.  If an elevated body temperature is detected you would implement your wellness protocol.

  • In many cases you may not want the extra time, cost and risk of dedicating staff to monitor traffic.  The system is fully automated and can be designed to do the work for you.  As people enter, if an elevated body temperature is detected, an immediate notification is triggered.  Notifications can include push messages, text messages, emails, alarms and warning lights and other custom solutions.  These alerts can be sent directly to multiple individuals, both on-site and off-site who can then implement your wellness protocol.

Q: Can I screen immediately after turning the camera on?

The cameras need to be warmed up before screening. Turn them on and wait 30 minutes before using.  In a permanent installation the camera will remain on so this is not an issue.

Q: Can it be part of my existing camera system?

Yes, the thermal body cameras can integrate with most IP camera systems.

Q: Do I need a recorder or any other extra equipment?

The thermal body camera system is self contained and does not need any other equipment to make it work.  It has the option of on-board storage so it does not need an extra recorder.

Depending upon your unique situation, you may want to have a laptop or monitor for your staff to view, but it is not required.

Q: Can the system be used for facial recognition?

Yes, when paired with a facial recognition NVR the system can be used for facial recognition.

Q: Does wearing a mask affect the detection?

No, the system can accurately detect an elevated body temperature even though someone is wearing a mask.

The system also has a built in feature to warn when someone is NOT wearing a mask.  This is an option that you can turn on and off.

Q: Can this replace a traditional thermometer?

Even though the cameras are highly accurate, they are not medical devices.  They are used for preliminary screening of people with elevated skin-surface temperature.  Depending upon your unique situation, if an alert occurs, a specialized medical thermometer should be used for further body temperature check.  The cameras should not be solely or primarily used to diagnose or exclude a diagnosis of a disease.

Q: What about privacy issues?

The temperature scans can be completely anonymous to comply with privacy laws.

Q: Are there any installation requirements?

  • Cameras need a stable indoor environment without wind or direct sunlight
  • Cameras must power on for at least 30 minutes before taking measurements to acclimate to the environment
  • Hats must be removed to read an accurate temperature
  • Cameras will not read a temperature of anyone running past the camera’s view – walking is fine
  • A well thought out “wellness protocol” should be established for an abnormal temperature reading

Thank you Richard, Tony and the rest of your team for making the installation of our Temperature Screening Camera system as smooth and quickly as possible. We are very happy!!
